About me

Hey, I'm Lucinda. My full name is Lucinda Clare Lineham, which is where the 'LCL' comes from. I am based in Hertfordshire in the UK and I have been living here pretty much my whole life. I have been a professional pet portrait artist since 2023, but my first commission was in 2017. During this time I completed a Fine Art degree at Loughborough University.

I started out with people portraits in graphite but I quickly transitioned to pet portraits in coloured pencil. Including the colours really brings them to life and helps to capture the personality and warmth of each animal. I plan to reintroduce people portraits in the future too.

Alongside the pet portrait commissions I am also working on original oil paintings. Drawing was always my number one, but I like expanding the range of aesthetics I can produce, and each medium has a unique quality. I'll be updating my social media and this website, but I am super excited to see what I can offer in the future.

My main inspiration for my portraits is the beauty in the bond we share with our animals. Just like people they are our family members and have totally unique personalities. Unfortunately they can't stick around forever, and the portraits are a really special way to memorialise them. I have had cats throughout my life, and I found my soul mate in Fudge who passed away in 2024. I drew her portrait a few months later and it feels like she is still with me through this memory. My current cat is a fluffy black and white boy called Oreo, and if you follow me on Instagram you might have seen him around.

One of the best ways I capture the pets is by including as many tiny details as possible, especially in the eyes, so it really feels like their soul is in the portrait. I believe what enables me to create such life-like portraits is being able to recognise and connect with their personality though the photos you provide. I am very particular with the image I like to use for the final portrait, as this is a part of how I make sure the personality and likeness are as true to life as possible. An essential part of this process is to also have input on which photos you feel are the truest reflection of your pet. I can get a good idea of some traits but really knowing your animal and sharing that knowledge with me is what brings it all together

I dedicate most of my time to making art but other passions that inspire me are travel, nature and music. I can see the beauty in lots of things, but finding it is what drives me.

Doing these commissions is truly my passion in life and I am incredibly grateful to everyone that supports me and enables me to continue creating.
